Sunday night at the Féte

It looked like all of Abeilhan turned out at the féte. First we walked through an area with all the usual portable rides for kids and games like throw a ball at bottle. Then the main area with picnic tables set up and a stand selling wine and soft drinks. Everybody was having a great time.

We had a big table with a lot of friends. There was a huge stage set up and already very load (mostly American) music was bearing out of the giant speakers. At about 8 pm the show started. It was actually quite amazing. All in all I would say there were about 25 performers - musicians, singers, and dancers. It was all very professional. Apparently these traveling shows go all around the villages in the French countryside. The dancers had very impressive costumes. Anyway the 2 hour extravaganza included big band music, rock and roll, lots of dance numbers, and things like Tina Turner "Rollin on the River". A pretty good dinner was served on paper plates and after the extravaganza there was dancing. We headed home before too late as it had been a really big day. I never had any chance to figure out whether I had jet lag or not.
