Mel and Sharon whose home I've made mine, made me feel very welcome. They didn't leave until the morning of the 30th so I had lots of time with them to get to know the house, the village, their friends, where to get groceries, etc. They have two geriatric dogs, Jake and Mollie, who will be my responsibility while I am here. More about them later.....
On Sunday Mel and Sharon hosted a delightful lunch party for 25 of their best friends. It was great. The guests were a mix of local French folks as well as lots of expats (Americanng and Brits). There was lots of good conversation (mixed French and English) delicious food, oh and lots of local wine. People left about 4 pm and the day wasn't over. That night there was a big féte here in Abeilhan.
During the summer there are many, many activities in the little villages here. This particular féte was held in the school's tennis court area. We went with some friends and had a wonderful time. See next post - that one will have pictures.

- My purpose in writing this blog is to share my travel experiences with friends and family. My late husband and I loved to travel and I always tried to keep a written journal as well as a photo book for each of our trips. I find that with the blog this is much easier to do and to share with others. My husband, John, died much too young after a valiant fight with a glioblastoma brain tumor. I miss him very much. Before he died he told me wanted me to live the rest of my life any way I wished and to enjoy it. So that is what I am doing.
